The Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) oversees the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). STARS is an internationally recognized framework for assessing sustainability on college/university campuses (more than 900 institutions on 40 countries are using STARS). It includes performance indicators and criteria organized into five main categories:
- Academics
- Engagement
- Operations
- Planning & Administration
- Innovation and Leadership
Institutions earn points toward: STARS Reporter, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
All three Seattle Colleges have completed STARS circa 2014, 2017, and 2021. STARS ratings are valid for three years. We are proud of the current STARS ratings.
